Discipleship Disciples in Deed
The word disciple refers to a follower, one who places himself under the teaching and authority of another. While there are many interesting people that one may follow, Jesus Christ, the second person of the Trinity, who gave his life in sacrifice on the cross for the sins of mankind, is the only one who is worthy that all would follow him. In Matthew 4 Christ himself said, “Follow me.”
Many declare themselves to be true followers of Christ. Nevertheless, Christ declared that in the day of judgment he would renounce many who have made such a profession saying, “depart from me, I never knew you” (Matthew 7:22). So, what does it mean to be a true disciple of Christ?
